Mont-Saint-Michel

Mont-St-Michel is the second most visited tourist venue in France. Take a walk around the fascinating World Heritage listed island, which becomes separated from the mainland at high tide when the causeway is flooded by the sea. You'll see how ramparts have been added to support the Gothic monastery over the centuries, and also see the remarkable cloister and refectory.
Wander along Mont Saint Michel's narrow streets, browse the shops on the main street, visit the island's museums, take a walk around the abbey's ramparts, with views over the sands of the bay, and enjoy the spectacle of the sea rushing in to surround Mont Saint Michel at high tide, separating the island from the mainland.
After visiting the arcaded cloisters alongside, which offer vertiginous views of the bay, you can wander at leisure among the maze of rooms, staircases, and vaulted halls that make up the abbey.

Genets Beach

Across the bay from Mont St Michel is a beautiful and frequently deserted sandy beach near the small town of Genets.
Parking is very easy in Genets, especially just outside the village.
It is possible (though somewhat risky due to very fast tides!) to walk across the sand flats from Genets to Mont St Michel.
