Le Mans

Picture
Le Mans is a beautiful city located on the river Sarthe and is well worth visiting for great shopping and sightseeing, even if you have no interest in motor racing!

However, if you are a fan of motorsport then a trip to the circuit is a great day out, and you can drive most of the roads that make up the circuit! You can see the famous 'S' bends at the top end of the circuit, named 'Le Tertre Rouge' after our gite!

Even if there is no racing scheduled when you visit the Circuit de le Sarthe there is a very interesting museum to see (click here to visit their website).

The Le Mans 24 hour race takes place in June, usually the second weekend. To see the finest modern sportscars compete in the most famous and gruelling race in the world, a visit to Le Mans is a must.  The Le Mans Classic happens in July every second year ('even' years, e.g. 2018/2020 etc.) about a month after the 24 Hour race. For those with an interest in classic cars there is one of the largest gathering in Europe of old racing cars, together with displays by a huge number of car clubs.

Petrolhead heaven!

To get a taste of the sights of Le Mans and the Sarthe circuit watch the slideshow below and click on the video to watch top Le Mans driver Oliver Gavin taking his Corvette around the famous circuit.
